In 2011, more than 3,000 people participated in a walk of solidarity in support of Queenslands refugee community.

Funded by the Queensland Government through Multicultural... Affairs Queensland, the Lantern Parade Walk for Refugees has grown as a signature event on Queenslands multicultural calendar.

In 2012, the Lantern Parade Walk for Refugees will launch the national Walk Together Campaign, starting at 5.30pm from the Cultural Forecourt, Southbank and ending in a community concert in the Suncorp Piazza.
