The Queensland Program of Assistance to Survivors of Torture and Trauma (QPASTT) is a non-government organisation providing a range of services to refugees and asylum seekers, especially survivors of torture and trauma. These include counselling and clinical services, specialist childrens and youth programs, community development work, research and innovation.
QPASTT has a vacancy for a full time counsellor-advocate for 3 months with the possibility of extension. This position will be responsible for the provision of assessment, supportive counselling, group work and advocacy services to asylum seekers within the Department of Immigration and Citizenship Detention Program at Scherger Detention Centre, Weipa. This will be a fly in fly out service from QPASTT in Brisbane. The worker will undertake 4 weeks onsite, 1 week at home office and 1 week leave.
Remuneration: $62,824 $66,043 (pro-rata) with salary sacrifice available with 40% rural and remote loading as well as living away from home allowances. For enquiries about these positions please contact Katharine Knoetze on 07 3391 6677.
