A non-profit peak organisation. It provides information on
and advocacy for refugees and humanitarian entrants in Australia on behalf
of its 90 organisational members and many individual members. It is not
a part of the Australian Government. Contains information, analysis and
ideas for ways to help.

AUSTCARE
AUSTCARE's mission is to mobilise support for refugees and
internally displaced persons, including their host communities and those
affected by landmines and natural disasters. In 2002, AUSTCARE supported projects in Afghanistan, Angola,
Bosnia, Cambodia, East Timor, Lebanon, Mozambique, Nepal, West Bank and

Australian Lawyers for Human Rights (ALHR)
ALHR is a network of Australian lawyers active in
practising and promoting awareness of international human rights standards
in Australia. It has a national membership of over 600, with active
National, State and Territory committees.

Australian Refugee Rights Alliance
A broad range of
non-governmental organisations involved in refugee issues have formed the
Australian Refugee Rights Alliance (ARRA) in order to present the issues
facing refugees to the United Nations High Commission for Refugees Executive
Committee meeting in October. ARRA invite interested people to 'sign off or endorse' position papers
posted on the Centre for Refugee Research website

Australians Against Racism (AAR)
Australians Against Racism was established by designer
Mariana Hardwick and novelist Eva Sallis in October 2001. AAR aims to
counter destructive stereotyping of race and culture by actively promoting
understanding and debate through the media, arts, education and the law.

A Just Australia
A national campaign umbrella group, with 98 Organisational
Supporters (including the Australian Education Union), 9,500 individual
supporters, and with 64 distinguished Australians as Patrons. Advocates for policies towards refugees and asylum seekers
that ‘reflect respect, decency and traditional Australian generosity to
those in need, while advancing Australia's international standing and
national interests’. Previously called 'Australians for Just Refugee
Programs'.

Centre for Refugee Research
One of
four such centres world wide which investigates the issues and needs
associated with refugee movement and resettlement. This centre was also
responsible for the Refugee Conference that was held last year. The centre

Deakin University Refugee Studies Group (RSG)
This is a cross-institutional, cross-disciplinary research
forum focussed on research into refugees' rights, settlement needs, asylum
policy, and the role of NGOs. The RSG is a research network open to
researchers, community workers and activists.

This is a very comprehensive site that is regularly updated, providing
reports on the European policies relating to refugees. The report,
