Email Lists and Web Forums

While you are on the net, join some email lists. Depending upon the group/s that you join, you may receive emails that will help to keep you up to date with current news, various opinions and debates, ways to help, coming events, or action that you can take. Following are listed some email groups to start you off but there are many others.

One email every two weeks, providing information about coming events, places to volunteer, other opportunities to help, and new resources and groups. For all groups and individuals who are concerned about, advocating for, or working with, refugees and asylum seekers in the Brisbane region, including South East QLD and Northern NSW, Australia.

Refugee Action Collective Brisbane E-List

To aid communication between Brisbane people concerned and active with refugee justice issues.The Refugee Action Collective is alliance of refugee justice activists of diverse backgrounds. We are calling for the end of Australia's barbaric policy of mandatory detention and for the granting of permanent visas for refugees on temp protection visas.

A Just Australia E-List

A national campaign umbrella group, with 98 Organisational Supporters (including the Australian Education Union), 9,500 individual supporters, and with 64 distinguished Australians as Patrons. Advocates for policies towards refugees and asylum seekers that 'reflect respect, decency and traditional Australian generosity to those in need, while advancing Australia's international standing and national interests'. Previously called 'Australians for Just Refugee Programs'.
Go to www.topica.com   and sign up as a user by clicking on "Sign Up Now" in the top right hand corner of the webpage. Once you have confirmed your registration join our list by searching for "ajustaustralia" - you will find instructions on how to join our list. Memberships and postings are moderated. This news group will be activated shortly, as participation grows.

Ausnews

Major Australian Forum. Aims to inform you on the issues of asylum and protection, international migration, treatment of migrants, and protection of the human rights of migrants and refugees in Australia and worldwide. Sends regular emails of news articles from national and regional media as well as commentaries.
